“The Written Treasures of Lower Danube” Project (ROBG-290) is funded under the Interreg V-A Romania – Bulgaria Cross-Border Programme, Priority Axis 2: “A Green Region”, Specific Objective 2.1: “Improving the sustainable use of natural heritage and resources of the cultural heritage”; Thematic Objective 6: “Preserving and protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency”; IP 6c: Conserving, protecting, promoting and developing the natural and cultural heritage. The aim of the project is to encourage the joint conservation, protection, promotion and development of the written cultural heritage of the cross-border region through diversification of the tourist services and development of the literary tourism as a key factor for using and exploiting the common advantages and potential. The specific objectives include:

  1. Creation of a new integrated tourist product: “Lower Danube Cross-Border Destination for Literary Tourism”;
  2. Activities on building a cross-border partnership network and increasing its capacity for joint strategic planning, management and sustainable development of Lower Danube.

The project partners are Global Libraries – Bulgaria Foundation, which is the Lead Beneficiary, Alexandru & Aristia Aman Dolj County Library and Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library in Ruse. The project’s duration is 24 months. The total value of the project is EUR 486,029.02.
